Hand Hygiene & Preventing the Spread of Germs
This term, children will be learning about the importance of hand hygiene and how germs spread from person to person. Through discussions, demonstrations, and practical activities, pupils will explore how proper handwashing helps keep us healthy and prevents illness.
Children will learn:
• What germs are and where they can be found
• How germs spread through touch, coughing, and sneezing
• The correct steps for effective handwashing
• When it is important to wash hands, such as before eating and after using the toilet
• Healthy habits that help protect ourselves and others
We encourage families to support this learning at home by practising regular handwashing routines and discussing ways to stay healthy together. Working together helps children develop lifelong habits for good health and hygiene.
