Post-16 Phase

Our Post-16 phase is designed to empower students to confidently transition into adult life, achieve independence, and engage meaningfully with their communities.

Post 16 is a separate provision within Tulip Academy and is designed to meet the needs of a specific cohort of students. Places are limited and are offered only where the Post 16 provision is considered appropriate for the individual student’s needs, abilities and future pathway. Attendance at Tulip Academy does not automatically guarantee, or give entitlement to, a place in Post 16. All students wishing to be considered for Post 16 will be subject to the usual Local Authority School SEND consultation process  which will asses whether the provision is suitable and can appropriately meet need. Decisions regarding transition will be made  on an individual basis, in partnership with the student, their family and relevant professionals as part of the transition Annual Review.

Community Engagement
We believe that active participation in the local community is key to developing a sense of belonging and purpose. Students are encouraged to engage with local initiatives, volunteering opportunities, and social opportunities. This ensures they understand the importance of contributing to society, while also enhancing their social skills and building lasting connections.

Preparation for Adult Life
Through tailored learning experiences, we focus on equipping students with essential life skills, including self-care, financial literacy, decision-making, and communication. We aim to support students in becoming confident and self-sufficient, with an emphasis on personal growth, resilience, and well-being.

Independent Living
A central aim is to foster independence in all aspects of life. Our curriculum includes practical lessons in home management, cooking, personal budgeting, health, and travel training. We also support students to develop problem-solving and organisational skills to help them navigate everyday tasks confidently and autonomously.
